I currently teach a unit on animal classification that could be enhanced by identifying the similarities and differences of each of the different animal phyla. I would like to use interactive websites (such as the “Bug Catcher” site) that allow students to view images of the different animals and students will be required to “drag and drop” them into groups based on their physical structure. Then, students could be required to write a description of what they noticed the similarities are in each phyla after completing the website activities.

Sim/dif can be used in all content areas, provided teachers are actively engaging students in the creation of learning sim/dif. Intersting to note that you all agree that teaching students how to work with organizers effectively is a key conept for teachers to learn to do first, using relevant materials. Use of technology to use as forms of assessments are great ideas, provided students have access to technology.
