The comparison matrix is an effective way to identify similarities and differences. It is a higher level thinking activity that can be used in lieu of using a Venn diagram. For even more indepth study, have the students identify the 'topics' on the comparison matrix chart.

...how to make a digital story! I just need to figure out how to teach my kiddos how to do it.

I will definitely use movie maker! That is the coolest thing ever. I have always wanted to know how to do this. My students will love this. I emailed my movie to some friends at school.

The one thing that we covered today that i am going to use in my classroom is the RAFTS activity. I am going to use the RAFT as a informal assessment to get feedback from my students on what they know. I will be able to look at their RAFTS and know if they understand the concepts or if they are just faking it. This tool will make my job easier while getting my students to write.

I will use in my classroom RAFTS. I liked the idea of completing several RAFTS throughout the entire unit and then at the end of the unit, taking one RAFTS through the entire writing process. This gives students the freedom to choose one RAFTS and develop into an essay. I will have my students store their RAFTS in their binder titled Writing Section and retreive when it is time to complete the essay.

I liked the movie maker! I do not embrace technology, but this is something I would actually do for fun. For this reason, I know our students will love using it in class.
I also enjoyed the research activity we did using the technology gurus. This is a good way to get students to learn in groups while still doing their own share of the work.
I would have liked more writing activities that non-English (and possibly history) teachers could use if they are not used to having their students write.

Although it will take some practice, I already know I will be using the video software. I know it will score big with the kids! The technology portion of today's training was very helpful, including the tracking of changes in editing documents.

The one thing from the content we covered today that I will make sure I use in my classroom is the digital stories. This is such an amazing techonolgy tool!! I see myself using this in many ways. For example, I have my students write children stories for a certain age level and they focus on a certain theme. They could easily turn this project into a digital story. Also, turning student's essays into digital stories would be a creative outlet for students.
